1. Doubtful. For a minute there it seemed like the Cardinals could steal Oswalt and reunite him with Beltran and Berkman for another run at a ring. That minute passed when the Rangers entered the bidding. A brief, incentive-laden contract to give a guy a shot with a contender is doable (see, e.g., Berkman). Two (or more) contenders vying for his services probably prices the Cardinals out.
2. I figure he’d be better than Westbrook but worse than Garcia. If Duncan weren’t a question-mark, I would be more optimistic.
3. 93 +/- 3 games.

I think the most interesting questions about this upcoming season still need to be asked. Rookies that will make an impact? Do the Cardinals have more work to do in free agency? How will Yadier work with Matheny and will he re-sign or seek free agency? …
